5_Things_Candidates_Look_for_in_a_New_JobWith a job market that is currently so rich, and unemployment at an all time low in Ontario, if you're a company looking for new staff members, you really have to give it your all in the advertisement. Candidates may have multiple job offers to choose from. So what can you bring to the table that will entice the candidate enough to apply, and accept, the job opportunity that you are offering?

When candidates apply to a job opportunity, they will be searching for these five things. Read on.

1. Stability and Longevity

Generally, candidates want a position that comes with stability and the possibility for longevity. They don't want a dead end job, but a career that could last them at least a couple of years.

2. Flexibility

Flexibility in hours, and the work space is a big one for candidates. Does your company offer the ability to work from home sometimes? Do you offer different time schedules for candidates, to fit their needs?

It's all about catering to the employee, and making them feel comfortable.

3. Compensation and/or Bonus Rewards

Let's face it, most candidates are seeking the highest paying job possible. That's just a fact. They are also looking to see if your company offers bonuses.

4. Supportive Team

The position could have great perks, benefits, and/or a gorgeous new office, but if coworkers and managers are not supportive, and don't work together, many candidates will consider leaving the position and looking for work elsewhere. Understand that candidates have to spend a lot of time with these coworkers. If they don't get along, it can be a disaster. It's always a good idea to get at least one other member from your company to interview the candidate before you go ahead and hire them.

5. Professional Growth

In all positions, candidates should have the ability to grow professionally. Whether that means providing the candidate with the tools needed in order to succeed at the job, or starting at an entry level position and working your way up the ladder

This could also mean the company providing candidates with the opportunity to learn new things, and potentially expense any education or training.

These are just a few things that candidates look for in a new job opportunity. Update any job opportunities to reflect this information to increase your chances of qualified candidates applying for the position.
