With April showers and May flowers comes a flurry of hiring.

If even thinking about the spring hiring rush has you in nervous knots, it’s time to take action. With these four simple steps, you can get ahead of the curve, and make spring hiring a breeze.

1. Team Up With a Staffing Agency Now

The first thing you should do is partner with a staffing agency. Many employers plan to work with the experts at an agency for their spring hiring needs, but many of them leave it until the last minute.

You may be one of them. After all, why would you search for a partner agency now when you don’t need to hire for another six weeks or so?

By reaching out now, you can clear hurdles and have your staffing services in place before you need them. When the spring hiring rush arrives, you’ll already have everything prepared.

It also gives you and the staffing agency, like Liberty Staffing, a chance to get to know each other. With a better understanding of your business and your hiring needs, we can be better prepared to help you make better hires.

2. Plan to Visit Campus Job Fairs

Another step you can take to prepare for spring hiring is visiting campuses during job fairs. University and college students begin their job searches in March, often hoping to have employment in place by the end of April. Mid-April is usually the end of the semester, and they’ll be available for four months of work after.

Campuses often hold job fairs to help students find work. If you’re hoping to hire temporary or seasonal workers, students might be the right fit for you.

You can also work with Liberty Staffing Services to make sure you’re represented at these events. You want to get the word out that you’re hiring, so make sure that you’re being seen by the people you want to hire.

3. Evaluate Your Needs

One of the issues with hiring rushes, like those that employers experience in the spring and fall, is that you may not have a plan in place. Without a clear sense of the open positions you have available, you can get wrapped up in spur-of-the-moment hiring.

This can lead to last minute scrambling to find people, or even hiring too much staff. Instead, take some time now and evaluate what you think your hiring needs will be for the next two or three months. You can look at historical patterns in the business, as well as employee behaviour.

4. Make a Plan

Once you’ve evaluated your needs, it’s time to make a concrete plan. How many people will you hire for the summer? How will you do it? How will you cover vacations?

Liberty Staffing Services can help here too. With our expert advice, you can be sure you’ll have a better plan to manage hiring as the spring rush ramps up.
