A resume is your opportunity to put your best foot forward, and it’s the first impression you’ll make with potential employers.

To impress employers who are filling jobs in Woodstock, Ontario, make sure your resume includes these five must-have resume features.

1. A Resume Profile

At the top of your resume, make sure to include a resume profile. Resume profiles highlight your experiences, skills, and goals. Hiring managers may not have a lot of time to review resumes, and having a resume profile at the top makes it easier for them to quickly determine if they want to call you in for an interview. Your resume profile can also help set you apart from other applicants who may not have written a profile.

3. Your Work History

Your work history is another incredibly important feature to include on your resume. Employers want to know what types of work you’ve done in the past to see if you’re qualified for their open positions. List each of your past jobs, and underneath each role, include a few bullet points that sum up your achievements.

If you don’t have any work history, you may be wondering what to include in this section. You probably have more experience than you think you do. Unpaid work, volunteer work, odd jobs, and even school projects can all be listed in this section.

4. Your Education

Potential employers want to see your education, so don’t forget to include this section. List your most recent degree or diploma first, and then list others in a reverse chronological order. In this section, you can also list any continuing education courses you’ve done, if they’re relevant.

If you’re still in school, or if you left without graduating, you may be unsure how to handle this section. You don’t need to have graduated to list a school on your resume. If you’re still in high school or college, simply write your expected graduation date so employers know when you’ll be finishing. If you left without graduating, you can mention the number of course credits you completed.

5. Your Licenses and Certifications

Licenses and certifications can set you apart from other candidates, so it’s necessary to list them on your resume if you have them. For some jobs in Woodstock, Ontario, having certain licenses may be a requirement.In those cases, listing your licenses is even more important.
