5_Signs_It_s_Time_to_Hire_an_Administrative_Assistant.jpgDo you feel like there’s always too much to do and not enough time to do it all? Is there a task sitting on your desk you haven’t been able to get to because you’re too busy? Maybe there’s a routine task you keep putting off for later.

There’s a theme here. You’re busy! If this sounds anything like you, it might be time to consider hiring an Administrative Assistant. If you’ve noticed any of the following signs, you should talk to your staffing agency about getting the staffing help you need.

1. You’ve Missed an Appointment or Meeting

You’re working away at your desk. Suddenly, you glance up at the time. You peer at your overpacked calendar and realize you’ve worked right through your post-lunch meeting with an important client. Hastily, you call the client to apologize, but the damage is done.

Maybe you haven’t missed an appointment yet, but you almost did. Or perhaps it was a meeting you missed (or forgot about until the last second). If so, it’s time to consider an Administrative Assistant to help you out.

2. The Phones are Ringing Off the Hook

You’ve just gotten off the phone with the client. You managed to reschedule the missed meeting. No sooner have you set the phone down than it begins ringing again!

This may not be a problem in the executive suite alone. You may find the phones are constantly ringing in all departments. Another problem is often email volume. You may find yourself struggling to reach inbox zero. Your employees may be spending hours wading through their inboxes as well.

An Administrative Assistant could be just the solution. Someone in this position can answer the phones and respond to emails, fielding common questions and helping your clients and customers schedule appointments and meetings.

3. You’ve Turned Down a New Client

Great news: The business is growing. There’s one drawback, of course. You’re so busy. Your desk is never clear and your to-do list seems to be growing longer. Your other staff members are already feeling overwhelmed. When yet another new client arrives on your doorstep, you’re compelled to turn them down. There’s no way you can manage.

It could be time to hire an Administrative Assistant if this situation sounds familiar. The extra set of hands can help you manage more routine tasks, thus freeing you up to work on the more important tasks. Once your desk is clear of the clutter, you may find it easier to keep up and to bring on that new client too.

4. You’re Neglecting Long Term Planning

You’re so busy managing day-to-day tasks and wondering if your to-do list will ever be finished, you can’t even begin to think about long term planning. What will happen to the business in six months? In a year? Who knows. You have a deadline to meet now.

If you’ve been neglecting long term planning, it’s likely because you’re too caught up in the minute details of the day-to-day. An Administrative Assistant can take these tasks off your hands. You can pull back and take a look at where the business is heading in the next year instead of wondering what you’re going to do for the next hour.

5. You’re Avoiding Certain Tasks

Did you put off booking travel until the last minute because you were so busy? What about finishing up the payroll or other HR tasks? If your attitude has become “it’ll be there tomorrow; I’ll do it later,” you could probably use a helping hand.

An Administrative Assistant can help you complete those daily tasks that eat up so much of your time. With those taken care of by a competent assistant, you can get back to the things that truly matter to your business.
