1. Content Marketing

Boosting your brand is a great way of getting the name of your company out there and encouraging job hunters to take interest and apply. For many, recruiting is thought of as a fairly straightforward process of posting job ads, but it should also involve raising awareness about your company at large.

By using content marketing to your advantage, you can post original content and circulate it on platforms such as LinkedIn to drum up more interest in the jobs you have available.

2. Timing Recruitment

Hiring decisions should never take place when you’re in a rush to fill a sudden vacancy. Instead, you should have a plan that takes into account the potential for hiring in the near future.

When you make hiring decisions under pressure, you’re much more likely to bring less-than-qualified candidates on board. This can cost you a lot of money. One of the best recruiting strategies is having a meticulous hiring plan at the ready.

3. Temporary Workers

Too often, companies take on full-time workers for projects that have a definitive end date. While hiring temporary workers might be outside of your regular purview, it’s something you might seriously want to consider. Hiring an employee to come on full time when a temporary or freelance worker would have sufficed can cost you a lot of money.

Staffing agencies are a great way of navigating the temporary work market for those who are not sure how it works.

4. Niche Job Boards

Finding and applying for work through the Internet has become the primary means by which people find employment. If you’re not using job boards to list open positions, you’re missing out on some great candidates.

But you may also be missing out if you’re only posting on bigger job boards. Niche job boards have become increasingly popular among job hunters who are looking to tailor their search. Posting on a niche job board also ensures that you’re reaching people who are enthusiastic about your specific industry.

5. Incorporating Video

Visual media is one of the most effective ways to convey what your company does and why people should want to work there. It’s one of many recruiting strategies that is not routinely used, but definitely should be.

Including a short video within the job listing that sums up the corporate culture or values of your company can leave a powerful impression on job hunters, drawing larger numbers of applications.

6. Social Media

Social media used to be considered something that was more for entertainment that anything else, but that is definitely no longer the case. Social media has become an important channel for professional engagement and networking, with larger numbers of people looking for job opportunities through various social media platforms.

Great recruiting strategies need to be incorporating social media into their everyday routines in order to catch up with this trend that is absolutely here to stay.

7. Emphasizing Work Culture

There’s a tendency for hiring managers to put very little emphasis on the company itself, beyond the basics of what the company does, in the job listing. But things like company values and company work culture are equally important. Millennials are becoming a much bigger part of the workforce. The things that millennials look for in a company, including a vibrant and fun atmosphere, are already having a profound impact on the way companies operate. Job listings that emphasize these qualities are a great way of appealing to more people.
