Here's a list of what you should do every time you apply to a new job opportunity. Following these tips should increase your chances of gaining an interview.

1. Read the Job Description Thoroughly

Before you even apply to a role, read the job description thoroughly. Are you qualified for the role? Is this position something that you are interested in? In times of desperation, job seekers make the mistake of applying to every role out on the market. While we understand that you want to find a new job quickly because you have bills to pay, this is not the right approach to take. In the end, you'll be wasting your time and the employer's time. Make sure to read the job description thoroughly, and apply to positions that you feel suits your skills.

2. Tailor Your Resume

A lot of job seekers make the mistake of sending the same generic resume to every job opportunity. This mass application method is not the best. Hiring managers want to see what skills and experience you can bring to the table, and if you will be a good fit for the position. Show them with a resume that is specifically tailored to the role.

Always tailor your resume to the position at hand. An employer will notice and appreciate if you have added keywords in your resume that were mentioned in the job description.

3. Proofread Before Sending

Lastly, before you apply to any job opportunity, proofread all of your documents before you send them to the company. A cover letter or resume with lots of spelling mistakes, or formatting errors, will send your application immediately to the no pile
