New_Grad_Looking_for_Work_Heres_What_to_Do.jpgAre you a recent graduate? Entering the workforce for the first time can seem daunting. If you've completed years of schooling, most graduates would ideally like to pursue a career in their field. However, in today's job market, and with more and more candidates achieving post-secondary education, there are hundreds of recent graduates competing for the same position. So what can you do to get a leg up on the competition? Liberty Staffing would like to provide the recent grads out there some job searching tips. Read on.

Have Realistic Expectations

Let's face it - even the most qualified candidates may not gain a career in their field of study. As a recent grad, you have all the necessary education for the role, but you may not necessarily have all the work experience required. This is where it's imperative to have realistic expectations when you first start out looking for work. For example, it's not realistic to believe that you will receive a six figure salary right off the bat. Entry level positions are what you want to go for. You may also have to be open to working in an area that may not be in your field, which brings us to the next point.

Be Open

If you're struggling to find work right out of school, it's important to be open to any job opportunities that come your way, even if they're temporary, and not necessary in your field. After all, you have to start somewhere. You never know, an entry level opportunity may lead to that dream job that you're looking for. It may take some time, and a few detours, to get there. Be open, persistent, and positive, and you will get there.

Network

Network, network, network. Talk to friends and family members if they know anyone who is hiring for an entry level position. Personal connections can go a long way in the professional world. Be open to networking anywhere that you go.

Attend Job Fairs

Job fairs are great ways to make multiple network connections quickly. Attend a job fair in your area. First impressions are everything at a job fair, so remember to dress professionally, and take multiple copies of your resume and business card.

Apply to a Staffing Agency

Lastly, but certainly not least, apply to a staffing agency. Finding work on your own can take weeks, even months, especially if you are a recent grad. A staffing agency will do the leg work for you, and can offer you work on the spot. All that you have to do is register. Liberty Staffing will take the time to get to know you, your skills and abilities, in order to find the perfect job for you. We have many entry level opportunities available for new grads. Apply with us today!
