Here are some quick and easy ways to update your resume so that you'll be ready to apply to a great new job in 2024.

1. Correct Your Contact Information

Life happens, and situations change over time. Did you get a new phone number? Have you recently moved? Do you have a new email address?

Make sure that your contact information is correct on your resume. This should be a quick fix.

The last thing that you want to do is send out your resume and it has the incorrect contact information on it. After all, how do you expect an employer get in touch with you for an interview, if you have an old/incorrect phone number or email address written on your resume?

2. Add Any New Work Experience

Have you started a new job? Have you gained new responsibilities in your current role? Add any new work experience, and the tasks/responsibilities required of the role, to your resume.

Even if you're not looking for a new job right now, this will save you some time down the line if you decide to apply to jobs in the future.

3. Check for Spelling Errors and Formatting Issues

Check for any spelling errors, and any formatting issues, within your resume. You want to make sure your resume looks polished and professional when you email it out. You'll have greater chances of gaining an interview

It's a good idea to get an extra set of eyes to look over your resume before you send it out. You can get a friend or family member to proofread your resume for spelling errors and formatting issues.

Unfortunately, a resume that's full or spelling/grammatical errors or formatting issues will probably be discarded immediately by a hiring manager.
