How_to_Motivate_Your_Temp_Workers_and_Seasonal_Employees.jpgMany businesses and corporations see a higher demand for products and services during the holiday season. Couple this with your permanent workers taking time off during the holidays, and you'll find you're in a bind. That's where temp workers and seasonal employees come in. If you haven't already considered partnering with a staffing agency, like Liberty Staffing, to provide you with temp workers to help during your busy season, you should! Temp workers have a lot of great qualities, and they are highly skilled in a variety of fields.

If you have brought on temp workers and seasonal employees, or you're thinking of doing so in the future, it's important to treat them just as you would treat your permanent staff. After all, the temp workers could potentially be working at your company ongoing for months until your project is finished. Train them, set goals for them, and familiarize them with your team. Temp workers/seasonal employees are an important reason why your organization is thriving. Here's how to keep your temp workers motivated.

Set Goals

Even if you are bringing on temp workers for a couple of days, it's imperative that you set goals and deadlines. Having an end goal, and seeing an end result, can create a huge impact on workers. They will feel accomplished once they have reached their goals.

Invite to Company Functions

Treat your temps as you would your permanent employees. They are a large part of why your company's production levels are high. Temps are hardworking, and a great way to thank them and give back to them is to invite them to company functions. This could be a team lunch, or team building exercise outside of work hours.

Offer Other Opportunities

If your temp workers are superstars, why not hire them on permanently to your company? If the candidate works well with your existing team, and they accomplish tasks successfully and quickly, it may be in your best interest to hire them.

Do you see a seasonal employee excelling in a different department? Let them know! Bounce the idea off of them, and see if they would be willing to try out the role. Temp workers often jump at the chance to learn new things.

Or, you can always offer them more temporary opportunities down the road. For example, if you know that you have another project coming up in the next few months, let the temp worker know, and ask them if they would be interested in returning to your company.

Let Them Know Their Importance/Significance

A "thank you" and pat on the back go a long way! It's a simple gesture, but your temp workers will appreciate it. Temp workers are important, so let them know it. Buying them a coffee, gift card is also a great way to let your seasonal employees know that they are appreciated.
